A tourist from Russia who was visiting the historic mosque in Istanbul called Hagia Sophia has decided to convert to Islam. A video posted on social media shows the tourist reciting the Shahada, which is the declaration of faith in Islam.
Hagia Sophia used to be a Christian Cathedral and was later turned into a mosque during Ottoman rule. In 2020, it was converted back into a mosque. The mosque continues to attract tourists from various religions and backgrounds.
During his visit, the Russian tourist attended a lesson on Sahih Bukhari, which is one of the authentic books of Hadith (sayings and actions of Prophet Muhammad). The lesson caught his attention and inspired him to embrace Islam. After his conversion, he was given the Islamic name Ahmad Daneez.
This incident shows how people from different backgrounds visit Hagia Sophia and find spiritual significance in the mosque, regardless of their previous faith.
