Former spinner Saqlain Mushtaq is expected to stay on as head coach of Pakistan’s cricket team for another year, according to sources.
Saqlain’s future with the team was cast into doubt as he quit as head coach of international player development at the High Performance Centre, and his interim appointment as national team head coach came to an end with the visit to Bangladesh.
Saqlain was most likely to stay on as head coach for the Australia series, according to a trustworthy source within the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
“He’ll be asked to stay on as interim coach till the PCB makes a final decision on who will be the permanent coach after the Australia series,” the insider said.
