Saud Shakeel has achieved a remarkable feat in Test cricket. He has become one of only five players in history to score a fifty in each of his first six matches. The other players in this elite group are Sunil Gavaskar, Basil Butcher, Saeed Ahmad, and Bert Sutcliffe.
If Saud manages to score another fifty in his next Test match, he will set a new world record. His latest fifty came in the ongoing first Test between Pakistan and Sri Lanka in Galle. Saud came to bat when Pakistan was struggling at 67-3 in response to Sri Lanka’s first innings score of 312.
Saud formed an unbeaten partnership of 120 runs with Salman Ali Agha, which helped stabilize Pakistan’s first innings. At the end of the second day’s play, Saud remained not out on 69* before rain interrupted the match.
