Saudi Arabia is cracking down on drivers who don’t give way to ambulances. Fines from SR.1,000 to SR. 2,000 will be imposed.
The Saudi Red Crescent Authority (SRCA) and Muroor have launched an app for monitoring violations related to obstructing ambulance movement. The app went live on 26 March, 2023.
The SRCA has provided the guidelines for the drivers which needs be observed strictly.
- Drivers must give way to the left lane when roads are clear, and move to the far right or far left if there are two lanes.
- Vehicles in the right and middle lanes must move to the far right if there are three lanes or more.
The app aims to enhance traffic safety, preserve lives, and improve the quality and efficiency of ambulance services. The Saudi Arabian authorities are committed to promoting road safety and urge all drivers to prioritize the safety and well-being of every individual.
