Saudi Arabia has appointed Sheikh Dr. Saleh bin Fawzan Al-Fawzan as the country’s new Grand Mufti after the passing of Sheikh Abdulaziz Al Al-Sheikh. The appointment was made through a royal decree issued by King Salman, following the recommendation of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
Sheikh Dr. Saleh is widely respected for his deep knowledge of Islamic teachings and his many years of service in religious education.
Along with becoming the Grand Mufti, he will also serve as the Chairman of the Council of Senior Scholars and President of the General Presidency of Scholarly Research and Ifta, holding the rank of a minister.
Funeral prayers for the late Grand Mufti, Sheikh Abdulaziz Al Al-Sheikh, were held across the Kingdom, including in the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah.
People from all over Saudi Arabia and beyond offered prayers and tributes, remembering his lifelong commitment to Islam and his valuable guidance on religious matters.
The Royal Court expressed deep sorrow over his passing and praised his great contributions to Islamic scholarship and national service. Condolences were extended to his family, to the Saudi people, and to the wider Muslim community.
