Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has sent warm congratulations to Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif for becoming the 24th Prime Minister of Pakistan.
Sharif secured his position for a second term by winning 201 votes in the National Assembly, surpassing his rival Omar Ayub, who had the backing of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, currently in jail.
The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) shared the Crown Prince’s congratulations on social media, saying, “His Highness Crown Prince congratulates Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on becoming the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.”
Saudi Arabia holds a significant place for Pakistan, with more than 2.7 million Pakistani expatriates living there and contributing to the country’s economy through remittances. The two countries share strong ties in trade, defense, and fraternal relations.
Other countries like China, Turkey, and Iran have also congratulated Sharif on his election as prime minister.
