Saudia Arabia Deploys Al Intelligence in Grand Mosque to Guide Pilgrims

The authorities of the Two Holy Mosques in Saudi Arabia have implemented advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI) and digital techniques, to enhance the guidance and counseling services provided to visitors and pilgrims at the Grand Mosque.

This initiative, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), involves the use of 52 screens strategically positioned both inside and outside the Grand Mosque. These screens cover a combined area of 279 square meters and operate around the clock.

The General Authority for the Affairs oversees the dissemination of tailored guidance content through these screens. To ensure the relevance and appropriateness of the content, a specialized team composed of esteemed scholars in religious and guidance matters curates the material.

This curated content is then translated into multiple languages to accommodate the diverse linguistic backgrounds of the mosque’s visitors. The screens are strategically placed at key locations, including entrances, exits, courtyards, and roads leading to the Grand Mosque, offering comprehensive coverage to pilgrims.

In the digital screens, the authorities have introduced an innovative AI-guidance robot as part of this initiative. This interactive robot is designed to assist pilgrims by providing essential brochures and publications that can facilitate their religious rituals.

The robot contains informative and guiding content, which users can access and share using their mobile phones. This incorporation of AI technology aims to enhance the overall experience of visitors and pilgrims, providing them with valuable information and support during their time at the Grand Mosque.
