Schools Closed Again Due to Heavy Rains and Floods

Authorities in Bagh, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, have directed that all schools remain closed on August 18 and 19, 2025, after the Meteorological Department issued a high flood warning. The step has been taken to ensure the safety of students and teachers during the ongoing monsoon spell.

The weather forecast predicts heavy rains and thunderstorms in several districts, including Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Haveli, Kotli, Mirpur, and Bhimber.

With these conditions, there is a strong possibility of flash floods in streams and rivers, along with landslides in hilly areas. Officials said such risks make it unsafe for students to attend classes, and the closure is a precautionary move to avoid any emergencies.

The Met Office also reported that Islamabad may experience heavy rainfall within the next 24 hours. This could cause urban flooding and water accumulation in low-lying areas of the city.

Residents have been advised to stay alert and avoid unnecessary travel until the weather improves.

Authorities in AJK have asked local communities to follow safety instructions and keep track of official announcements. Emergency response teams are being kept on standby to deal with any possible situations.

By suspending educational activities, the administration aims to protect children and give families time to focus on their safety as the region braces for potential flooding and landslides caused by the monsoon rains.
