Schools in These Districts Extend Holidays amid Punjab Floods

Schools across several districts of Punjab have extended holidays due to the recent floods that left buildings unsafe and facilities damaged. The move is aimed at ensuring the safety of students and teachers while repair work continues.

In Sialkot, all public and private schools will remain closed until September 5 after floodwater caused serious damage to classrooms. Education officials said classes will resume only once buildings are declared safe.

In Chiniot, 88 schools have been declared unfit for students as rising water levels damaged infrastructure. Authorities confirmed that restoration work is already underway to make them functional again.

In Lahore, most schools are reopening on September 1 but 45 institutions remain shut as they are being used to shelter flood victims. These include both government and private schools in Shahdara, Thokar Niaz Baig, Maraka and Shahpur Kanjran.

Officials have urged parents to stay updated on official announcements and prioritize children’s safety as flood recovery efforts continue.
