A second Pakistani citizen has lost his life in the United Arab Emirates after debris from an aerial interception struck a vehicle in Dubai’s Al Barsha area, according to authorities.
The victim, who was working as a driver, died late Saturday night when falling debris hit his car. The incident occurred during a period of rising tensions in the region involving Iran, the United States, and Israel. Officials said the debris was believed to have fallen after a missile was intercepted in the air.
This is the second such tragedy involving a Pakistani national in the UAE in recent days. Earlier, another Pakistani citizen, Mureed Zaman from Bannu, died in Abu Dhabi when debris from an intercepted missile fell onto a residential area. The incident caused serious concern among residents as it affected a civilian neighborhood.
Authorities in the UAE expressed deep condolences to the families of the victims and confirmed that investigations into the incidents are ongoing.
Officials emphasized the importance of protecting civilians during conflicts and noted that attacks or actions that put civilian lives at risk are strictly prohibited under international humanitarian law.
The recent incidents have highlighted the dangers that regional tensions can pose even to areas far from direct conflict zones. Safety experts say that falling debris from intercepted missiles can sometimes travel long distances and cause unexpected damage on the ground.
Communities in the UAE, including many expatriates from Pakistan, have expressed sorrow over the loss of lives. Diplomatic officials are also monitoring the situation closely while extending support to the affected families during this difficult time.
