After loud objections from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf members, the Senate on Thursday passed the Supreme Court (Practice and Procedure) Bill 2023, which aims to limit the top judge’s suo motu powers in a personal capacity.
Azam Nazir Tarar, the federal law minister, introduced the measure in the Senate. By a margin of 60-19, the Supreme Court (Practice and Procedure) Bill 2023 was approved.
