Shahid Afridi, a former captain of Pakistan, showed his steadfast dedication to his beliefs by declining to wear a shirt with a gambling company’s emblem on it.
This incident happened when Afridi’s Asian Lions team faced off against the Gambhir-led Maharajas in the Legends Cricket League. Afridi hid the insignia on his shirt despite the threat of punishment from the organisers.
When Gambhir was up to bat during India’s 12th batting over, he attempted to knock the ball towards the fine-leg boundary while batting against Abdul Razzaq’s bowling. Sadly, the ball struck him in the helmet after striking the edge of his bat.
Even though Gambhir wasn’t severely injured, Afridi approached him and asked if he was okay before continuing the game.
The Asia Lions emerged victorious over the Indian Maharajas by a narrow nine-run margin. Misbah-ul-Haq, Shoaib Akhtar, Sohail Tanvir, and Abdul Razzaq, four legendary cricketers from Pakistan, were also members of the Asian Lions, along with Sri Lankan players.
Murali Vijay, Irfan Pathan, Robin Uthappa, Harbhajan Singh, and Muhammad Kaif were among the members of the Indian team, which was coached by Gautam Gambhir.
