To support local businesses, the Sharjah Government has announced a generous 50% discount on fines for non-renewal of business licenses. The decision was made during a meeting chaired by Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and vice-chairman of the Sharjah Executive Council (SEC).
Starting from July 10, business owners will have a four month window to adjust their status and take advantage of the discount. The primary objective of this initiative is to encourage compliance with licensing regulations and provide much needed financial relief to businesses in Sharjah.
Furthermore, the Sharjah Executive Council (SEC) has approved a memorandum of understanding between the Sharjah Economic Development Department (SEDD) and the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT). This memorandum focuses on fostering cooperation between the two entities in organizing market surveys and verifying product conformity.
The collaboration aims to ensure the safety and quality of products available in local markets, while also streamlining efforts at both the federal and local levels to address any issues related to recalled or non-conforming products. As part of this initiative, a centralized database will be established, making it easier for dealers to report any non-conforming products.
