Sindh Announces Eid Holidays from March 31 to April 2

The Sindh government has announced a three-day public holiday on the occasion of Eid ul Fitr, from Monday, March 31, to Wednesday, April 2. The decision was confirmed in an official notification released on Wednesday.

Eid ul Fitr, a major Islamic festival, marks the end of the holy month of Ramazan. Muslims worldwide celebrate the occasion by gathering for prayers, sharing meals, and spending time with loved ones.

While the government has set the holiday dates, the actual celebration of Eid depends on the sighting of the Shawwal moon. The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will meet on the evening of Sunday, March 30, to observe the crescent. Their decision will officially confirm the start of Eid ul Fitr.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, there is a strong possibility of the Shawwal moon being visible on March 30. This prediction supports previous forecasts that suggested Eid would likely fall on March 31.

To accommodate the increased travel demand, Pakistan Railways has announced four special trains running across key cities. The trains will operate between Quetta and Peshawar, passing through major stations like Rohri, Lahore, and Rawalpindi. This initiative aims to provide convenience for those traveling to celebrate Eid with their families.

The festive period is expected to bring joy and celebrations across the country as people prepare for traditional gatherings, delicious meals, and prayers at mosques. Citizens are encouraged to plan their travels in advance to avoid the holiday rush.

The government’s early announcement allows organizations and institutions to make necessary arrangements for the long weekend. As anticipation for Eid ul Fitr builds, the spirit of togetherness and celebration is evident across Sindh and beyond.
