The Sindh cabinet has approved a budget of Rs 2,244 billion for the new financial year 2023-24.
On this occasion, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said that this is the last pre-budget cabinet meeting of the Sindh government’s five-year tenure.
The cabinet also resolved to raise pay for personnel in grades 1 through 16 by 35% and for those in grades 17 through 22 by 30%
According to budget papers, the Sindh cabinet has authorised raising the minimum salary in the province to Rs35,000. Additionally, the budget includes Rs410 billion for the state’s yearly development programme.
In Sindh, more than Rs 88 billion has been set aside for 1937 new development projects, while more than Rs 291 billion has been set aside for 3311 existing projects.
In total, Rs380 billion has been allocated for 5248 schemes, Rs34.69 billion for the education sector and more than Rs19.73 billion for the health sector.
In the budget, more than Rs 6.97 billion has been allocated for agriculture, more than Rs 1.15 billion has been allocated for the People’s Bus Service in Sindh, 20 new hybrid diesel buses will be purchased in Sindh.
