Sindh’s First Special Technology Zone to Be Established in Karachi Education City, Gadap

The Sindh government has officially received approval to set up its first-ever Special Technology Zone (STZ) on 500 acres of land in Karachi’s Education City, located in the Gadap area.

This new zone is designed to follow in the footsteps of global tech hubs like Silicon Valley. It will focus on modern and high-demand industries such as automation, health technology, cybersecurity, agricultural technology, blockchain, 5G networks, and clean energy.

Syed Qasim Naveed Qamar, the Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Investment, shared that eight large investors—both from within Pakistan and from other countries—have already shown strong interest in the project. These investors are expected to play a key role in helping the zone grow quickly.

The main goal of this Special Technology Zone is to connect universities and academic institutions with the tech industry. This connection will help create more job opportunities for skilled workers and improve access to advanced education and training for young people in Sindh.

The master plan for the zone is already being developed. Once complete, the zone will support research, innovation, and the development of new technologies in the region. It will also encourage partnerships between local businesses, international companies, and educational institutions.

This initiative is a major step forward for Sindh, as it works to strengthen its role in the technology sector and create a knowledge-based economy. With the right investments and support, the STZ could become a major tech hub in Pakistan’s future.
