In a video statement circulating on social media, Mansha, the wife of prominent lawyer Jibran Nasir, revealed that her husband had been taken away by a group of people. She explained that they were returning home after dinner when a white vehicle, a Vigo, intercepted their car and almost caused a collision.
Around 15 armed individuals forcefully took Jibran Nasir with them. Mansha, visibly emotional, requested everyone to raise their voice and pray for her husband’s safe return. The news quickly spread, leading to the hashtag #ReleaseJibranNasir trending on Twitter.
Jibran Nasir, who ran as an independent candidate in the 2018 general elections from Karachi, has been known for his outspoken criticism of the recent state crackdown on the PTI (Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf) party and the legal process involving individuals accused of participating in riots.
While the exact reason for his “pick up” remains unclear, Jibran Nasir’s last tweet focused on Islamabad, cautioning against any public display of vandalism or violence by Abdul Aziz and emphasizing that he should not be viewed as an independent actor.
