Sohail Afridi Announces End of Interest in KPK Govt Investments

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has declared the end of interest-based practices in government investments, marking a major shift in the province’s financial policy. Chairing a cabinet meeting in Peshawar, he outlined several new goals aimed at improving governance, transparency, and public trust.

During the meeting, Afridi thanked all political parties for participating in the recent peace jirga. He assured them that the provincial government will fully implement the resolutions passed by the KP Assembly, stressing that unity is essential for long-term stability.

One of his top priorities, he said, is ending the Action in Aid of Civil Power law, which has been widely debated across the province.

Afridi also announced the formation of an inquiry commission to investigate the May 9 Radio Pakistan incident. This step aims to ensure accountability and provide clarity on the events surrounding the attack.

In addition, the chief minister highlighted several key reforms, including the shift to a riba-free financial system, strict enforcement of merit in government departments, and updates to outdated laws. He reiterated his government’s commitment to zero tolerance for corruption, calling it essential for sustainable development and good governance.

These policy changes reflect the KP government’s broader efforts to build a fair, transparent, and accountable administrative system for the future.
