Chandana Wijekoon, a Sri Lankan author, recently launched a book titled “Ali Jinnah, Silver Voice of Asia” at the Colombo International Book Fair.
The event saw an impressive sale of 6,000 copies, reflecting the enduring popularity of the subject, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, who played a pivotal role in the creation of Pakistan.
Deputy High Commissioner of Pakistan, Wajid Hussain, graced the occasion as the chief guest, underscoring the strong ties between Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
The ceremony also featured a special address by Major General (retired) Prathap of Sri Lanka, who acknowledged Jinnah’s significant contributions to the Muslim community in the sub-continent.
The book launch event extended beyond the Colombo International Book Fair, with another ceremony held at St. John’s College. The Deputy Principal of St. John’s College, Rasanjali Jaya Tilka, took the opportunity to felicitate Chandana Wijekoon for his latest work.
In attendance were various writers, journalists, and senior civil and military officers who participated in the event, emphasizing the wide-ranging interest in the life and legacy of Muhammad Ali Jinnah. The deputy high commissioner of Pakistan took the occasion to express gratitude for the deep-rooted relationship between the two nations.
The book, “Ali Jinnah, Silver Voice of Asia,” delves into the life of Quaid-e-Azam, offering insights into his role as a prominent leader and advocate for the rights of Muslims in the Indian subcontinent.
With its significant sales at the book fair, it is evident that Jinnah’s story continues to captivate and resonate with a diverse audience, transcending national boundaries and fostering cultural exchange between Sri Lanka and Pakistan.
