Supreme Court Orders Medical Access & Phone Call Facility for Ex PM Imran Khan

The Supreme Court of Pakistan has ordered the authorities to allow PTI founder Imran Khan to consult eye specialists and to arrange phone contact with his children.

The order was issued during a court hearing about Imran Khan’s health and prison conditions. During the proceedings, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and Barrister Salman Safdar appeared before the court to present their positions. The case was heard by a two-member bench led by Chief Justice Yahya Afridi and Justice Shahid Bilal Hassan.

The judges reviewed a detailed report that was submitted during the hearing. According to the report, Imran Khan said he was satisfied with the security arrangements in jail and had no complaints about the food being provided to him. However, he expressed concern about the medical facilities available inside the prison.

In particular, he stated that he was not receiving proper eye care and requested access to qualified eye specialists for treatment. After considering the matter, the Supreme Court directed the relevant authorities to ensure that he is given access to specialized medical care as needed.

The court also ordered that arrangements be made to facilitate phone communication between Imran Khan and his children, recognizing the importance of family contact.

The decision highlights the court’s focus on ensuring that basic rights, including access to medical treatment and family communication, are upheld. The authorities are now expected to implement the court’s instructions and submit compliance reports if required.
