Suzuki Motor and SkyDrive, company that makes “flying cars,” have recently said that they have agreed to collaborate on research, development, and marketing of electric, vertical takeoff and landing aircraft.
The two companies announced in a joint statement that they will work together to expand into other areas, with an initial focus on India where Suzuki holds approximately half of the market.
On Sunday, Suzuki announced plans to invest 104.4 billion rupees ($1.37 billion) in its India factory to produce electric vehicles and batteries.
However, the companies did not reveal any investment details about their collaboration, nor did they specify a production schedule or target.
SkyDrive, based in Tokyo, has a number of major Japanese businesses including trading house Itochu, technology corporation NEC, and a unit of energy company Eneos Holdings. According to its website, it raised 5.1 billion yen ($42 million) in total in Series B funds in 2020.
