Taiwan has become the world’s first country to provide free Wi-Fi to all of its citizens and visitors

Taiwan has made history by becoming the first country in the world to provide free WiFi to its people and visitors. Wi-Fi (sometimes called Wifi or WiFi) is a popular technology that uses radio waves to allow electronic devices to communicate and connect to the internet wirelessly.

Taiwan’s government-backed free “iTaiwan” wireless network started in 2011 and presently boasts over 15,000 hotspots throughout the island country, including key tourist attractions, transportation hubs, cultural enterprises, and government offices. Citizens were required to register using only their local phone number and then use the semi-fast 10-20 MBPS service.
