Educators have recently emphasized the importance of teaching licenses in ensuring that a teacher has the necessary skills and knowledge for effective classroom practice.
According to a statememt issued, the Aga Khan University Institute for Educational Development hosted a policy debate to promote awareness, gather information, and make technical recommendations about the possibility of introducing a teaching licence in Pakistan.
A teaching license can improve teaching quality and help students learn more, as well as raise the holders’ professional prestige and provide them with new prospects in Pakistan and abroad.
“Teacher license is desirable in Pakistan to improve teaching standards. We must, however, keep in mind the political economy of teaching licenses. Universities’ schools of education must make a deliberate effort in this area,” stated Dr. Irfan Muzaffar, the Technical Director of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Education Support Programme, who was also a keynote speaker at the conversation.
