On Sunday, India defeated Pakistan by 107 runs in a World Cup match, but it was Pakistan captain Bismah Maroof’s seven-month-old daughter Fatima who won everyone’s heart.
The Indian players were spotted playing with Fatima, who was in the custody of one of the Pakistan support staff members, at the end of the match, while Maroof was busy with the post-match press conference.
Ekta Bisht was smitten with young Fatima, who seemed to appreciate the attention as well. One of the players seen with Fatima was Jhulan Goswami.
One of the inquiries directed at Maroof during the press conference was about her daughter. She would have been completely oblivious that her daughter was also being filmed by television cameras at the stadium at the same moment.
“It’s a very emotional time for me,” Bismah Mahroof said of the photo of her attending the match with her daughter in tow that has gone viral.
“It was a unique sensation. Returning to the World Cup to compete. My mother and daughter are here, therefore this is a great occasion for me, and I want to make it memorable “she stated.
