The Single National curriculum has been expressed by religious and political leaders and recognised to be in line with Pakistan’s Constitution.
On Sunday after a meeting of the Pakistan Ulema Council (PUC), a consensus proclamation was issued that very clear and plain lessons on interfaith and minority and women’s rights are given in the Single National Curriculum (SNC). The statement said that the elements that wage a struggle against it will ruin the image of Pakistan worldwide.
The leaders stressed that non-Muslims are unconscious of the nature of SNC indoctrination, not compelled to study Islamic lessons.
The declaration explains, “Hatred, sectarian violence, and other societal prejudices will be put to a halt through a uniform national curriculum, while interreligious harmony, national unity, and solidarity will be strengthened in the country.”
It further stated that “the Constitution and the legislation of Pakistan and Islamic teachings protect the rights of women and minorities, all of which are contained in the standard curriculum of education. It’s quite unusual when people in Pakistan and Afghanistan who are talking about women’s rights don’t remember Dr. Aafia Siddiqui.”
