Punjab is moving forward with its clean transport vision and the province is now preparing to introduce electric buses in ten more cities. This expansion marks a major step in the government’s plan to promote pollution-free travel and make public transport easier and more reliable for local residents.
Public Transport Network Expands
Officials confirmed that a new fleet of electric buses has been arranged for the upcoming phase. These buses will soon start running in several districts, helping thousands of people reach schools, workplaces, and markets through a safer and cleaner mode of transportation.
The cities selected for the latest rollout include:
- Rawalpindi
- Chakwal
- Jhelum
- Gujar Khan
- Toba Tek Singh
- Jhang
- Bahawalnagar
- Rahim Yar Khan
- Rajanpur
- Bahawalpur
Authorities shared that final route checks and system tests are already underway so services can begin smoothly.
Province Strengthens Green Travel
According to officials almost 120,000 passengers use these buses every day showing how quickly people are shifting toward cleaner and more convenient travel options. The new additions will increase the network’s reach and help reduce fuel consumption and smoke emissions.
The official inauguration of this new phase is scheduled for November 19, 2025. The government believes that adding more cities to the electric bus network will not only support clean air efforts but also improve mobility for people living in smaller districts.
With more electric buses on the way, Punjab aims to continue expanding its modern public transport system in the coming months.
