Pakistani nationals seeking opportunities to live abroad while working remotely now have a new destination on the map. Moldova, a scenic European country in Eastern Europe, has introduced a Nomad Visa, opening its doors to freelancers, entrepreneurs, and remote employees who work for companies outside the country.
The program allows digital nomads to legally reside in Moldova while continuing their online work or managing businesses abroad. With its relatively low cost of living, natural beauty, and strategic location in Europe, Moldova is positioning itself as an attractive new hub for remote workers.
Residency Terms and Income Requirements
The newly launched scheme grants residency permits for up to two years, with the possibility of extension to five years in the future. What makes Moldova’s Nomad Visa particularly appealing is its low income requirement, set at just US$1,500–2,000 per month (approximately €1,290–1,700). This is significantly lower than income thresholds in many other European countries offering similar visas, making it more accessible for Pakistani digital workers.
Application Process and Fees
Although the exact application process has yet to be finalized, experts predict that the Bureau of Migration and Asylum will oversee the program. Applicants are expected to provide a valid passport, four recent passport-size photographs, job contracts or proof of remote work, and evidence of housing in Moldova.
Applications may be submitted either in person or online once a dedicated website is launched. Processing fees are expected to be between €40 and €80.
What Are Nomad Visas?
Nomad visas are special permits introduced by many countries in recent years to attract skilled professionals who work online. They allow remote workers to live in a country for an extended period without needing a traditional job there. For host countries, these visas help boost local economies and tourism while drawing global talent.
A Gateway for Pakistanis
For Pakistani freelancers, IT professionals, and entrepreneurs, Moldova’s Nomad Visa presents an affordable and accessible path to European residency. With growing global demand for digital talent, this initiative could open new doors for those seeking to combine work with travel and cultural exploration.
