Total of Rs2 trillion are on pending against thousands of cases at several stages of litigation in Pakistani courts, as per the documentation.
FBR shared a data against which up till 30 September 2022, there were around 87,958 tax related cases are stuck in several courts, including high courts of all the provinces and territories to the Supreme Court and appellate tribunals.
However, 13,392 are customs cases out off 87,958 cases which are unsettled with an amount of Rs249 billion.
Furthermore, 5,345 cases with value of Rs147 billion are pending at Sindh High Court (SHC).
Moving towards the second highest number of cases, which are pending at Customs Appellate Tribunal, 5,058 cases are unresolved holding tax worthing of Rs75 billion.
However, only 65 cases are pending at Balochistan High Court with a total amount of Rs4.5 billion.
Meanwhile, 689 cases are un-concluded at PHC (Peshawar High Court) valuing Rs2 billion.
