According to Bloomberg, a TikTok moderator has filed a lawsuit against the social media site and its parent company ByteDance for alleged trauma brought on by explicit videos.
Moderator Candie Frazier said that she has watched videos depicting violence, school shootings, tragic falls, and even cannibalism in a proposed class-action lawsuit. According to the lawsuit, the plaintiff experiences terrifying dreams when she does manage to get any shut-eye.
TikTok moderators apparently have to perform 12-hour shifts with just a one-hour lunch break and two 15-minute breaks, which exacerbates the issue.
The lawsuit states that because of the overwhelming amount of content, “content moderators are authorised no more than 25 seconds each video, and simultaneously view three to ten videos at the same time.”
