Saroj Devi, the mother of Neeraj Chopra, shared her happiness about her son’s silver medal win. She also expressed her admiration for Arshad Nadeem’s incredible achievement, as he set a new Olympic record with his gold-medal-winning throw.
Although Nadeem’s throw of 92.97 meters was longer than Chopra’s best of 89.45 meters this season, Saroj considers both athletes to be like “children” of India.
She emphasized the strong bond of respect and friendship between the two competitors, pointing out that both have brought great pride to the country. Kamlesh, Chopra’s aunt, added that although they had a feeling gold might not be possible after seeing Nadeem’s powerful throw, they are still very happy and proud of Neeraj’s silver medal accomplishment.
