Allah says (interpretation of the meaning): “Those who believe on m and do good deeds and pay zakat, Allah will reward them and there will be no fear on them, nor will they grieve.”
Zakat cannot be spent on the People of the Prophets, rich and wealthy, non-Muslims and those whose expenses are responsible for the zakat himself.
Zakat is obligatory on gold, silver, merchandise and animals and on the production of land.
There are eight types of people who are entitled to zakat, they can be given zakat. Their description and explanation have been given by Allah in verse 60 of Surah Al-Tauba.
- Fuqra: It refers to people who have nothing to live for.
- Masaqin: This refers to those whose expenses are high, and the income is low.
- Amileen: Those who have taken zakat and are responsible for keeping an account of it.
- Mualfitah Al-Quloob: It refers to the disbeliever who hopes to become a Muslim with wealth or stops irritating the Muslims.
- Fi al-Rakab: To free the necks, that is, to free the slave Muslim and to free the Muslims from the captivity of the enemy.
- Gharimeen: To get rid of debt by spending zakat on debtors who cannot repay their debts.
- Fi Sabeel Allah: This means jihad and jihad is the pinnacle of Islam, jihad is fi sabeel Allah and spending zakat to meet all the expenses and needs of the mujahideen is proved by the hadith. When a man dedicated his camel to jihad, he said, “Allah will give you seven hundred camels in exchange for this camel, and all will be of nickel.” Muslims need special attention on this issue.
- Traveler: Whoever has run out of money during the journey, give him zakat money so that he can reach the destination.
