Torkhan Customs Seize Rs. 480 Million Silver Hidden in Tyres

Customs officials recovered 30 kilograms of silver during a routine inspection at the Torkham Import Terminal. The silver was cleverly hidden inside the tyres of a truck that had entered Pakistan from Afghanistan. According to Collector Ghulam Mustafa, the vehicle had earlier transported an Afghan family and was stopped for a normal security check after returning.

During the detailed search, customs officers found the concealed silver packed inside the truck’s tyres. The total value of the recovered silver is estimated to be around Rs480 million. Authorities immediately took the silver into custody along with the truck. Superintendent Zia Afridi was also part of the operation, which was carried out by Pakistan Customs to prevent smuggling and ensure border security.

Officials said such inspections are part of regular efforts to stop illegal trade and protect the country’s economy. Investigations are ongoing to find out more details about the case and those involved.
