Toyota has revealed a convertible version of its opulent Century SUV, initially teased during the launch of the Rolls Royce Cullinan-rivaling Century SUV last summer.
Making its global debut in Tokyo, the Century SUV convertible was showcased in front of the Kokugikan stadium ahead of the year’s first Grand Sumo Tournament. This unique convertible is a one-off creation designed as a parade car for the victorious Sumo wrestler at the tournament.
Retired Grand Sumo champion Hakuho, with a remarkable 20-year career and 45 tournament wins, requested this special Century convertible, emphasizing its status as Toyota’s most luxurious vehicle. The convertible boasts a bespoke design tailored for the parade run, featuring reinforced rear suspension to support the weight of two wrestlers seated in the back.
While specific details about the powertrain were not explicitly mentioned, it is assumed that the all-wheel-drive and the stock 3.5-liter V6 gasoline hybrid from the base Century SUV, delivering 406 hp, will be sufficient for the short parade journey. This distinctive convertible showcases Toyota’s craftsmanship and flexibility in catering to unique requests from esteemed individuals.
