TVS X Becomes 1st Indian Motor Vehicle To Be Launched in Burj Khalifa

Indian motorcycle manufacturer TVS Motor has launched its electric two-wheeler, TVS X, in the UAE. The company has priced the electric scooter at Rs 249,990 (Dh11,120), and the first 2,000 buyers will enjoy additional benefits. KN Radhakrishnan, the director and CEO of TVS Motor Company, announced that bookings have already commenced, and the delivery schedule for India is set to commence in November 2023.

During the launch event, KN Radhakrishnan revealed, “We plan to expand it to other cities in the last quarter of this financial year.” This move signifies the company’s ambitions to expand its electric mobility offerings across various regions.

The features of the TVS X electric scooter are noteworthy. It features a top speed of 105 km/h and a range of 140 km based on the Indian drive cycle. The scooter impresses with its acceleration, going from 0-40 km/h in just 2.6 seconds and 0-60 km/h in 4.5 seconds. The motor power is rated at 7 kW with a peak power of 11 kW. Additionally, the battery installed has a capacity of 4.44 kWh. For home charging convenience, the scooter can reach up to 50% state of charge in just 50 minutes using a 3000W charger.

Sudarshan Venu, the managing director of TVS Motor, emphasized the global significance of addressing climate change through sustainable transportation solutions. He stated, “Considering climate change has been affecting people around the world, it is heartening to see steps taken in the mobility sector to cut carbon footprint.”

Moreover, Venu highlighted the importance of the Indian market in the electric vehicle industry. “India is the fastest growing economy and also the world’s largest two-wheeler market. Indian companies are encouraged by the steps taken by the government to invest in electric vehicles. Indian consumers are also trendsetters globally. Consumers’ demand for EVs is increasing globally,” he added.

TVS Motor has already made strides in the electric mobility sector with the launch of its first electric scooter, iQube, in 2020. Priced at Rs 123,776 in Delhi, iQube has garnered a substantial customer base in just three years. Sudarshan Venu expressed optimism for the future, stating, “In three years, it has become one of the leading brands, with hundreds of thousands of delighted customers. And the future is even more promising.”

The launch of TVS X was celebrated with a display on the Burj Khalifa. This grand gesture further underscored the significance of this milestone in the electric vehicle market. As TVS Motor embarks on this journey of expanding its electric mobility footprint, it is poised to contribute significantly to sustainable transportation solutions while catering to the evolving needs of consumers worldwide.
