Two sets of parents have a remarkable New Year’s Eve birth story involving the birth of twins, and what makes it truly extraordinary is that the babies were born on different days, in different months, and even in different years.
At Yale New Haven Hospital in Connecticut, Mykel and Aliyah Kiyomi Morris from Hamden welcomed their baby boy Seven at 11:59 p.m. on December 31, 2023. Just minutes later, at 12:02 a.m. on January 1, 2024, his little sister Souli joined the world. Both siblings weighed in at 6 pounds, 9 ounces. The hospital reported that the family is doing well and enjoying some much-deserved rest.
In New Jersey, Eve and Billy from Merchantville also had a unique New Year’s Eve birth story. Their son Ezra was born at 11:48 p.m. on December 31, weighing 6 pounds and measuring 18¾ inches long. Younger brother Ezekiel made his entrance at 12:28 a.m. on January 1, weighing 4 pounds, 15 ounces and measuring 17¼ inches long. Both boys are healthy and doing well. The family now has several reasons to celebrate in the months of December and January.
Births of twins on different days are already rare, and the occurrence of them being born in different years is exceptionally unusual. According to the Natividad Medical Center in Salinas, California, which had a similar twin birth story two years ago, the chance of twins being born in different years may be as rare as one in 2 million, adding an extra layer of uniqueness to these heartwarming stories.
