UAE Issues 4-day Rain Alert

UAE is on a 4-day rain spell from November 15 to 18, featuring thunderstorms and heavy rainfall, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM). The recent weather alert follows an extraordinary 28 consecutive days of rain in the Emirates.

On Wednesday, November 15, the country is expected to be cloudy, with evening rains forecasted. Thunder, lightning, and rainfall are anticipated on Thursday and Friday, particularly in the east, north, and coastal regions. Conditions will gradually ease on Saturday, with lingering rain and partly cloudy skies in the east.

Recent weather reports indicate that UAE has been enjoying generally pleasant weather. However, the country recorded its lowest temperature this season on Monday, dropping to below 10°C in Rakna, Al Ain. Other areas, such as Dubai’s Al Marmoom and Lahbab, experienced temperatures as low as 13°C on the same day. According to the NCM’s five-day forecast, temperatures are expected to decrease further on Thursday.

UAE has been grappling with heavy rains, thunderstorms, and hail from October 14 to November 10, resulting in flooding in valleys and streets. Waterfalls cascaded down the mountains during this nearly month-long rainfall. Notably, last weekend marked the first dry period in four weeks.

Despite being in the midst of the rainy season, an NCM expert mentioned that the showers have been unusually intense. This has raised concerns about the potential impact on the affected areas.
