UAE Issues Warning for Companies to Provide Housing for Employees

The Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation in the UAE, Dr Abdulrahman Al Awar, has issued a warning against companies that are taking advantage of the government’s salary support programme for Emiratis.

According to the minister, several companies have been reducing the salaries of Emirati job-seekers by informing them that they will receive salary top-ups through the UAE Government’s Nafis programme once they are hired.

This practice is considered a violation of the Federal-Decree Law No. 33 of 2021, which regulates labour relations and prohibits discrimination that could negatively impact career opportunities in the labour market.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (Mohre) is committed to addressing and dealing with any instances of such abuse.

Minister Al Awar emphasized that Mohre will take firm action and implement necessary procedures against any company attempting to exploit Emiratisation-related policies and decisions, including the benefits provided by the Nafis programme.
