UAE Residents Can Avail 9-day Holiday in 2024 & 2 Long Weekends in 2023

For the remainder of 2023, UAE residents can look forward to two more extended weekends. The first one is from 21 to 23 July, in observance of the new Hijri year. And the second break is scheduled from 29 September to 1 October. The year wraps up with the UAE National Day celebrations on 2 and 3 December.

Looking ahead to 2024, there is an exciting news for residents planning important events or vacations. There is a possibility of a long 9-day break during Eid Al-Fitr. The dates have been estimated through astronomical projections. According to which, Ramadan is expected to start on Monday, 11 March 2024. It will most likely last around 30 days. Based on this, Eid Al-Fitr celebrations might begin on Wednesday, 10 April 2024.

Moreover, employees in the public and private sectors usually get a holiday period from 29 Ramadan to 3 Shawwal. In 2024, this could mean a 9-day break from Saturday, 6 April, to Sunday, 14 April, including weekends. These dates are provided by the Emirates Astronomy Society, but they might still vary due to the Islamic (or Hijri) calendar’s dependence on moon sightings.

Additionally, Eid Al-Adha in 2024 is likely to commence on Monday, 17 June, suggesting another 5-day break from Saturday, 15 June, to Wednesday, 19 June. However, it is important to remember that these dates are mere estimations and could change due to the lunar-based Islamic calendar.
