UAE has temporarily stopped issuing visit and work visas to citizens from nine countries. The move affects both African and Asian nations.
According to immigration updates, people from Uganda, Sudan, Somalia, Cameroon, Libya, Afghanistan, Yemen, Lebanon and Bangladesh will not be able to apply for new tourist or work permits until further notice. The decision covers all fresh applications, while ongoing ones remain on hold.
Although UAE authorities have not officially explained the reason, the step is believed to be linked to security concerns and regional diplomatic matters. Officials have also indicated that this restriction is not permanent but will remain in place until the situation improves.
The UAE has taken similar actions in the past, limiting entry for certain countries during sensitive times. Experts say such measures are often short-term and are reviewed regularly depending on international relations and domestic priorities.
For now, applicants from the nine countries are advised to wait for official instructions before submitting any new requests. The government is expected to release further details once the review process is completed.
This recent suspension highlights the UAE’s cautious approach toward immigration, balancing its role as a global hub with national security and diplomatic interests.
