Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that the ceasefire between the United States and Iran remains in place, adding that Pakistan is continuing diplomatic efforts to help address the remaining unresolved matters between both countries. He said Islamabad is committed to supporting dialogue and promoting stability in the region through peaceful engagement.
He noted that Pakistan played an important role in facilitating historic direct talks between Washington and Tehran after decades without such high-level engagement. According to the prime minister, the negotiations continued for more than 20 hours and marked a significant step toward reducing long-standing tensions.
Shehbaz Sharif praised the efforts of Pakistan’s political and military leadership for helping make the discussions possible, saying their coordinated approach created an environment where both sides were willing to come to the table. He also thanked the United States and Iran for accepting Pakistan’s invitation and participating in the talks.
He added that the dialogue helped preserve the ceasefire and contributed to easing regional tensions after weeks of conflict that had raised concerns over global security, energy supplies, and international markets. The prime minister expressed hope that continued diplomacy would lead to lasting peace and greater regional stability.
