The US State Department is offering a $500,000 grant to support the development of English language skills in Pakistan, with a special emphasis on transgender youth, according to Fox News.
The grant is intended to help young Pakistanis better engage in the global community and prepare for future career success. It will provide professional development courses for English language teachers from non-mainstream institutions, novice Pakistani English language teachers, and transgender youth, as well as Afghan teachers, students, and young professionals residing in Pakistan.
The program has a specific component dedicated to transgender youth, accepting proposals ranging from $25,000 to $75,000 to implement professional development courses for Pakistani transgender youth aged 13 to 25, as well as Afghan teachers, students, and young professionals residing in Pakistan.
The grant’s goal is to enhance trainees’ English language communication skills and connect them with a professional alumni network.
