According to reports citing PTA Chairman Amir Azeem Bajwa, the Chinese-owned platform should penalise users who publish “vulgar” content.
The PTA chief stated that Pakistan is among the top ten social media markets in the world, and that these markets are continuing to grow. It is difficult to police material because the social media companies’ headquarters are not located in Pakistan.
Previously, the short video site claimed that it would remove over six million films from Pakistan that were deemed improper by Pakistani societal norms. The actual number of clips removed was 6.4 million, putting the country in second place behind the United States, which erased 8.5 million videos.
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has hinted that the video-sharing app TikTok’s prohibition may be lifted on the condition that immoral and filthy content be removed.
Under the Cybercrime Act of 2016, Pakistan banned the popular video-sharing software for the fourth time in July.
He stated that the content is one of the main reasons why it has been banned four times in the South Asian country.
