Usman Khawaja Set to Auction ‘All Lives are Equal’ Shoes for Children of Ga_*za

Australian cricketer Usman Khawaja, 37, has made a generous decision to sell his “All Lives Are Equal” shoes, announcing on social media that he is teaming up with UNICEF and will donate the auction proceeds to the Children of Gaza appeal.

Despite facing a ban on his shoes because they reference the Israel-Palestine conflict, Khawaja has gone ahead and released T-shirts featuring the banned shoes with messages like “freedom is a human right.” The ban was imposed by the International Cricket Council (ICC). On Instagram, Khawaja emphasized a broad and open-minded approach to addressing humanitarian issues, expressing his intention to support the Children of Gaza in a respectful manner.

Khawaja has encountered issues with the ICC in the past, having been reprimanded for wearing a black armband without approval and being barred from displaying a dove symbol on his shoes. He has criticized the ICC for what he sees as double standards in enforcing rules on political symbols, clarifying that the black armband symbolized personal bereavement.

In his efforts to assist the Children of Gaza, Khawaja is navigating challenges posed by the ban on his shoes and addressing broader issues related to freedom and humanitarian concerns.

His decision to auction the shoes and donate the proceeds to UNICEF illustrates his commitment to making a positive impact in a way that aligns with his values and principles. Khawaja’s resilience against ICC restrictions and dedication to supporting a cause he believes in reflect his strong stance on humanitarian issues.
