Wasim Akram Demands Sacking of Whole Team

Legendary fast bowler Wasim Akram has called for the complete overhaul of the Pakistan cricket team following their disappointing showing in the T20 World Cup 2024. Under the captaincy of Babar Azam, Pakistan suffered a narrow defeat to India by six runs, which was their second loss in a row.

Akram voiced his frustration over the team’s performance, particularly singling out players like Iftikhar Ahmed and Mohammad Rizwan for their lack of game awareness and poor shot selection. He was critical of their decisions on the field, which he felt cost the team crucial runs and ultimately the match.

Moreover, Akram pointed to a significant issue within the team: a reported rift between captain Babar Azam and star bowler Shaheen Afridi. He suggested that this internal conflict could be affecting team morale and performance.

In his analysis, Akram did not hold back, stating that it was time for a major change. He called for the coaches to stay but insisted that the entire team should be replaced. According to him, the current squad has not lived up to expectations and it’s crucial to bring in new players who can perform better and bring unity to the team.

Akram’s comments highlight the growing frustration among fans and cricket experts with Pakistan’s current cricket setup. His call for a complete team revamp underlines the urgent need for better performance and cohesion in the squad to meet the expectations of the nation and succeed in future tournaments.
