“We Don’t Serve Customers Wearing Shalwar Kameez”,Man in Karachi Denied Entry to Restaurant

A controversy has started in Karachi after a man wearing shalwar qameez was allegedly not allowed to enter a high-end restaurant. Abdul Latif, who is a lawyer, said that on May 18, he went to the restaurant but was refused service because of his clothes.

According to Abdul Latif, a waiter told him that food service was not available for him because he was wearing shalwar qameez.

He also claimed that the restaurant manager called shalwar qameez “cheap dressing” and threatened to remove him by force if he argued about it. Abdul Latif said he felt deeply insulted and embarrassed by this behavior.

After the incident, Abdul Latif sent a legal notice to the restaurant, asking them to respond and explain their actions. However, the restaurant management did not reply to his notice. Feeling ignored and disrespected, Abdul Latif decided to take the matter to the Consumer Court.

In the court, he is demanding strict action against the restaurant for discrimination and for hurting his self-respect. The issue has sparked a wider debate on social media about discrimination based on traditional clothing in Pakistan.

Many people are angry and say that shalwar qameez is Pakistan’s national dress and should be respected everywhere, even in top restaurants.

Some people are calling for a boycott of the restaurant until it apologizes and changes its dress code policy. Abdul Latif hopes that his case will help stop such unfair treatment in the future and that people wearing national dress will not face humiliation again.
