“We Have a Buyer for TikTok by the Way,” Donald Trump Announced Buyer for Tik Tok

Former U.S. President Donald Trump recently said that there’s a buyer interested in purchasing TikTok. He made this statement while speaking at a campaign event, but he didn’t reveal the name of the buyer or any details about the deal.

Trump’s announcement comes at a time when the U.S. government is pressuring ByteDance, TikTok’s parent company in China, to sell the app’s U.S. operations. Lawmakers in Washington have raised concerns that TikTok could pose a national security risk by sharing user data with the Chinese government, something TikTok has repeatedly denied.

In April 2024, the U.S. Congress passed a law giving ByteDance until early 2025 to sell TikTok or face a nationwide ban in the United States. The company has challenged this law in court, calling it unconstitutional and harmful to American users and businesses.

During his presidency, Trump had also tried to force a sale of TikTok’s U.S. branch. At that time, companies like Oracle and Walmart were reportedly interested, but no deal went through. His latest statement has once again brought attention to the future of TikTok in the U.S.

So far, there’s no official word from ByteDance or the U.S. government about any confirmed buyer. However, Trump’s comments suggest that talks may be happening behind the scenes.

As millions of Americans continue to use TikTok daily, any sale or ban will likely have a major impact on social media, free speech, and U.S.-China tech relations.
