WhatsApp users will soon be able to hide their ‘last seen’ information from certain contacts

The Meta-owned messaging network has added a much-requested feature: the ability to utilise the talking platform on different devices without requiring an online connection on your smartphone. And now it’s added yet another important and requested feature: the ability to hide your ‘Last seen’ status from particular contacts.

This feature will allow users to remain anonymous. Users of WhatsApp will be able to select contacts with whom they do not want to share their last seen status.

In the current stable version of WhatsApp, you have three options: let everyone with your phone number see you’re last seen, only those in your contacts, or set it to nobody.

This will be a pleasant change for those seeking seclusion from coworkers, bosses, pushy parents, and extended family members. It would also be a welcome break from the perils of the instant-response culture.

Although this is a step in the right way, it might be enhanced by adding features that allow users to share the most recent scene with select people rather than having to filter out those who don’t want to see it, which could be laborious.
