Winter Holidays! Punjab Schools to Close from Dec 23 to Jan 11

The Punjab government has officially announced the schedule for winter vacations for all schools across the province.

According to the notification, every public and private educational institution will remain closed from December 23, 2025, until January 11, 2026.Classes will start again on January 13, 2026, and no school or college is allowed to change these dates on its own.

The decision has been taken mainly to protect students from the severe cold weather expected during this period. Officials say the long break will help students stay healthy and also give them enough time to prepare for the upcoming academic activities once classes resume.

Parents have been advised to follow the schedule strictly and avoid sending children to any unofficial school activities during the vacation period.

The government has also made an important change in the examination schedule. The first semester exams for Punjab government schools, which were planned earlier, have now been postponed. A new date sheet will be shared once the weather situation becomes stable.

This announcement comes after the province recently changed school timings due to increasing smog. Under the earlier order, all schools were instructed to start the day no earlier than 8:45 am to reduce health risks for students exposed to polluted air early in the morning.

With the winter break, adjusted timings, and postponed exams, the government aims to make sure that students stay safe and healthy while also keeping their education on track.

Families across Punjab are now preparing for the extended holidays as schools begin winding down their activities for the year.
