As winter approaches, the Punjab government has decided to adjust school timings across the province to protect students from the early morning chill.
Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat shared the update on social media, confirming that classes will now begin later in the morning to provide relief during the colder months.
Under the revised schedule, schools are expected to open at 8:45 a.m. and close by 1:30 p.m., offering a more comfortable routine for both students and teachers. The minister emphasized that the change is temporary and will remain in place throughout the winter season.
While the official notification from the Punjab School Education Department is yet to be issued, officials have assured that the circular will be released shortly. Once confirmed, all public and private schools will be required to follow the new timings without delay.
Parents have welcomed the decision, saying that the adjustment will help children avoid the harsh cold during early morning commutes. Teachers also expressed relief, noting that the change would improve attendance and punctuality during foggy and freezing mornings.
Minister Hayat, who frequently uses his social media to share education-related updates, reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring student well-being and smooth academic operations throughout the winter.
The move is part of Punjab’s broader seasonal policy, similar to previous years when timings were adjusted to protect children’s health during the winter season.
