The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque has launched the world’s largest cooling system to prepare for the Hajj season of 1446 Hijri.
This massive system has a total cooling capacity of 155,000 tons and is designed to keep pilgrims cool and comfortable during the hot summer days.
The cooling system works through two major stations. The first is Al-Shamiya Station, which provides 120,000 tons of cooling power. The second is Ajyad Station, which adds another 35,000 tons. Together, they cool the entire Grand Mosque complex, including all expansion areas.
This powerful system maintains a steady indoor temperature between 22°C and 24°C, creating a pleasant and manageable environment for the millions of pilgrims who visit during Hajj.
What makes this system even more impressive is its advanced air purification technology. It removes 95% of dust and airborne particles, ensuring clean and fresh air throughout the mosque. This is especially important during Hajj, when large crowds gather and the risk of heat-related illnesses and respiratory issues can increase.
With this new cooling and purification system, the Grand Mosque is now better equipped to handle the rising number of visitors and the intense heat of summer.
The initiative reflects Saudi Arabia’s commitment to providing a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for pilgrims from all over the world, allowing them to focus on their spiritual journey without discomfort or health concerns.
